David and I (as The Andrews Massey Duo) are very happy to have been booked to perform for Hertford Music Club. The afternoon concert will comprise two 40 minute halves around a 30 minute interval, and finish at 5, so perfect entertainment for a dark winter's afternoon (and still time for a pub meal afterwards!)

The concert will definitely include some of our arrangements of Schubert and Mozart from our CD Stolen Serenades, as well as some of our newer repertoire. More information about programme and tickets to follow.

This concert is the culmination of an intensive conducting masterclass - so each conductor who took part in the masterclass will perform one movement of a symphony either by Haydn or by Brahms. It's always a very varied evening, and great fun to watch the different conductors' approaches, one after the other. It also keeps the orchestra on our toes! Do come if you're interested - or message me for more details.

We'll be returning to St Mary's Aylesbury for this lunchtime concert in June 2016. There's a cafe in the church that does great cakes as well as omelettes, baked potatoes etc, so plan to have lunch there either before or after the concert as well - hopefully in the garden!

Here's the idea for the concert:
The Andrews Massey Duo (Emily Andrews on flute and voice and David Massey on guitar) will perform a programme of works based around the idea of storytelling. Mixing classical and folk genres as is becoming the duo's signature, they will perform their own arrangements of British folk tunes from their first CD '...from the Roots', alongside Emily singing some of Dowland's lute songs (most famously his gorgeous lament 'flow my tears'), and some Schubert song arrangements from Winterreise (performed variously on flute and guitar and on solo guitar). Expect a very contrasting programme (both in instrumentation and styles), full of stories to intrigue and excite the imagination!

This is the first concert pianist Alice Rosset and I will be doing together in our midi tour this week. We have planned a super-varied programme, all from French composers, but mixing flute and piano pieces, voice and piano, solo piano, and a flute and guitar piece (for which my husband, guitarist Francisco Correa, will join me).

Concerts are free but do please bring money for the retiring collection, which the organisers rely on to help pay for the concert series.

    The programme is as follows:

    Roussel - Joueurs de flute
Débussy -  Reflets dans l'eau (from Images)

Thomás - Connais tu le pays? (From the opera Mignon)

Débussy - Hommage à Rameau (from Images)
    Poulenc - Movements Perpétuals
Caplet - Reverie and Petit Valse

Alice Rosset and I have decided that performing this beautiful programme only once is a shame - hence why we're putting on this open dress rehearsal in North London the night before our lunchtime concert in Leatherhead. We hope that our London friends and family can come, and all unknowns are welcome too!

The programme is stunning, if I say so myself: Entirely French music, mostly for flute and piano although there is one song in there too. There is so much beautiful French flute music that it was very hard to narrow it down to a 45 minute selection, but here's what we chose:

Albert Roussel - Joueurs de flute
Andre Caplet - Reverie and Petit Valse
Debussy - Reflets dans l'eau from Images
Ambrose Thomas - Connais Tu? from the opera Mignon
Poulenc - Sonata for flute and piano

Please turn up anytime from 6pm, and afterwards we will all go to the nearest pub for a drink and a chat (to get out of the studios as soon after the concert as possible). As I had to hire the room I will be asking a voluntary contribution of £5 from audience members, to cover our expenses for the concert - can slip this to me in the pub afterwards!

I'll be performing an entirely french programme with the lovely French pianist Alice Rosset in this special Bastille Day concert in Leatherhead. Alice and I met in Jurignac, where I go to teach flute each summer, and we've performed before quite a few times there, but never in UK.
