David and I will be performing a one hour programme on the theme of Stolen Serenades: every piece (apart from the Piazzolla - the exception that makes the rule!) is an arrangement for flute and guitar so has been 'stolen' from its original intended instruement. This is a great chance to hear some of our latest arrangements including the Mozart Fantasia and Dvorak Sonatina which have both had rave reviews.

    Programme is:

Schubert - Standchen, Gute Nacht and Das Fischermadchen
Bach - Andante and Allegro from Sonata in E minor BWV 1034
Piazzolla - Bordel 1900 and Cafe 1930 from Histoires du Tango
    Mozart - Fantasia in D minor K397
Dvorak - 1 Allegro risoluto, 2 Larghetto, and 4 Allegro from Sonatina op 100

I will be playing second flute with the Multi-Story Orchestra for this very interesting project. We are performing as part of Kings Place's Venus Unwrapped Festival, with a new set of songs by Kate Whitley for soprano Sarah-Jane Lewis as well as Ravel's Mallarme Songs. The rest of the programme will be readings from poets Sabrina Mahfouz and Hibaq Osman with improvisations from Fra Rustumji and Abel Selaocoe. I strongly recommend buying tickets in advance, which you can do here.

This will be the premiere of our newly rewritten Creating Carmen show, with script by concert playwright and festival director Clare Norburn, directed by Nicholas Renton.  The show was created and run a few times by us in 2018 before my maternity leave, and is now being completely revised. Us three musicians (myself Francisco Correa and David Massey) will be joined by two actors tbc, all with lighting and costumes, made possible by the Arts Council England from whom we've received a grant for this project. Do catch us while we're in London. It will be unmissable! Tickets available from the festival website.

Myself, David Massey and Francisco Correa are so excited to be bringing our Creating Carmen show to Stranraer!

Creating Carmen: exciting reading of a brand new “one-man-play meets concert”.

Meet the colourful writer Prosper Mérimée, who created the Carmen novella (the basis for Bizet’s opera). Clare Norburn’s new work in progress concert/play will explore how his myriad love affairs underpinned Carmen's creation. Mérimée’s experiences will be intertwined with music from Bizet’s Carmen and Spanish or Spanish-inspired music by Boccherini, da Falla, Granados, Ravel, Delibes and Albeniz in arrangements by exciting young trio Carmen Co.

"What is most impressive about Norburn’s conception is the way various strata and elements combine and cohere so effortlessly. Past and present, truth and fantasy, real and imagined come together in a tightly knit and intimate drama" - Opera Today.

David Massey, Francisco Correa and I are very happy to have been invited to perform our CarmenCo show in Aboyne and Deeside Festival 2019. The show was created and run a few times by us in 2018 before my maternity leave, and has now been revised and updated to include even more repertoire, better costumes and a more developed storyline.  Expect music with a Spanish theme, including many numbers from Bizet's Carmen, arranged for two guitars and either voice or flute. See you there!

David Massey, Francisco Correa and I are very happy to have been invited to perform our CarmenCo show in this new series, Open For Music, as performed in the Aboyne and Deeside festival a few weeks earlier. Expect music with a Spanish theme, including many numbers from Bizet's Carmen, arranged for two guitars and either voice or flute, and performed with a little storyline. Each of us has a character and remains in this character throughout the concert, as we present the music. See you there!

Note this is NOT the same as Clare Norburn's Creating Carmen recently premiered in Stroud Green, which involves the same music and musicians (us!) but also two actors, and has roughly 50/50 spoken word to music. This is the concert version if you like - mostly music and just us three musicians!
