Emily Andrews graduated in 2010 with Distinction from her Masters degree in flute performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Clare Southworth and Kate Hill. Emily has followed an unusual career path: her undergraduate degree was in Mathematics at Cambridge University, and she worked as an IT consultant for two years before she followed her heart and became a full-time musician.
Emily performs a wide range of repertoire in different contexts. Equally at home in the orchestra as performing recitals solo or in chamber groups, and with classical as with folk or world music; her career is extremely varied!
As an orchestral freelancer she has performed with many of the UK's professional orchestras, including her trial with Scottish Opera 2012-2013, for the 2nd flute position, and appearing with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen, performing 2nd flute in Mahler 2 in the Royal Festival Hall and in the Anvil in Basingstoke, and Bartok in the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris. She has also thrilled to perform with the Philharmonia at Buckingham Palace for 40 Royal Delegates in June 2012 (where she met Prince Charles!). Her other recent orchestral work includes numerous concerts as 2nd flute with the London Concert Orchestra, performing with the Russell Watson UK tour, Les Voix Nouvelles, Chipping Campden Festival Orchestra, Aurora Festival Orchestra in Sweden, the London Firebird Orchestra, the Brandenburg Ensemble, and the London Arts Orchestra.

As well as her solo and orchestral work, Emily is also a passionate chamber musician, performing regularly with her prizewinning guitar and flute duo The Andrews Massey Duo), which is bringing out its third CD this spring. Following their Tunnell Trust Award in 2013 they toured Scotland, giving concerts with unanimously superlative reviews in at least 7 newspapers. The duo has performed at venues including Colston Hall, St James Piccadilly, Wigmore Hall, Lytham St Annes, and St Martin in the Fields.
Emily's "exquisite phrasing", beautiful singing tone and natural musicality have been noted by many prominent musicians, including Samuel Coles, Lorna McGhee, Ransom Wilson, Mark Van de Wiel, Neil Black OBE and William Bennett OBE. The British Flute Society's review of her performance of the Liebermann flute concerto sighted Emily as "definitely one of Britain's most promising young professionals".
